My Journey Into Sexual Empowerment Coaching

About Me

Raquel Getzel

My journey into sexual empowerment coaching began long before I ever called myself a coach. I grew up in a conservative culture where sex was taboo. We didn’t talk about desire, pleasure, or the female orgasm—only abstinence, reproduction, and fear. I was taught to be “a good girl,” to wait until marriage, and to never ask for too much.

So, I got married young, thinking intimacy would naturally unfold with love and commitment. And while I cherished and loved the connection, something always felt… incomplete.

Until one day, a single moment—an unexpected scene in a movie—cracked something open in me. I felt curiosity, arousal, aliveness. That spark led me down a path of exploration.

I started reading “adult” novels, listening to podcasts, and following the work of sex educators—and I realized how little I knew about my own pleasure.

I wasn’t alone. Most of us were taught to silence our desires, to prioritize approval over authenticity. Eventually, I couldn’t ignore the emptiness anymore. I was bored, frustrated, and craving something more—more depth, more connection, more enjoyment.

Through therapy, self-pleasure, writing, and eventually Somatica training, I began to rebuild my relationship with myself. I discovered that my desires weren’t shameful or sinful—they were human.

The more I practiced expressing my truth, the more I understood: authenticity isn’t a threat to intimacy—it’s the key to it.

Why I Coach

Now, I guide self-doubting people-pleasers who feel disconnected from their bodies, their voices, and their desires. I also work with curious souls—those who are eager to learn but don’t know where to begin.

The ones who have questions about intimacy, sex, or relationships that no one ever gave them permission to ask. The ones who were never told it’s okay to wonder, explore, and feel.

Together, we explore what it means to stop abandoning yourself and start showing up—with curiosity, honesty, and care. This work is about so much more than sex—it’s about connection, aliveness, enjoyment, and coming home to yourself.

And I want to be honest with you: I’m still on this journey too. I keep learning, softening, and discovering new parts of myself. The work doesn’t end—and that’s what makes it so beautiful. There is no one way to “doing it” right.

Let’s explore what’s possible when you stop silencing your desires and start listening.
